Ajax supporters throw seats at their own players after Europa League final defeat by Manchester United

Ajax supporters threw seats at their own players after suffering defeat by Manchester United in the Europa League final on Wednesday night in Stockholm.

All eyes were on Jose Mourinho at the final whistle as he wildly celebrated a fourth European trophy as manager, but boos could be heard ringing around the Friends Arena as Ajax fans vented their anger.

The Eredivisie side has sleepwalked throughout the match, failing to muster a clear chance - and when they went over to applaud their travelling fans, they were in for a rude awakening.

Some supporters threw objects in their direction, with seats ripped from the end that housed the Ajax contingent, but the missiles hit Swedish stewards as dreams of a first European trophy since 1995 went up in smoke.
