The EFL’s contract with Wembley will be reviewed when the current deal expires in three years’ time due to unhappiness at their treatment by the national stadium.
As Mail Sport revealed last week the EFL are annoyed at being forced to bring forward the Carabao Cup final kick-off from 4:30pm to 3pm for this month’s meeting between Chelsea and Liverpool, with many on the Board feeling that Wembley should have given them more support in their arguments with the Metropolitan Police.
The EFL have staged five finals-a-year at Wembley for the last 17 years without experiencing significant crowd trouble, but with the contract expiring in 2027 alternative venues could be considered in future.
