Today (Tuesday) marks 50 years since one of the greatest nights in Manchester United's history, when Matt Busby's men held off six-time European Cup winners Real Madrid in the 1968 semi-final second leg to reach the final of the competition for the first time.
The Reds found themselves 3-1 down at half-time, but second-half strikes from David Sadler and Bill Foulkes helped to secure an heroic 3-3 draw, in front of a daunting crowd of 120,000 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
“This is without doubt United’s greatest night – our finest hour,” said Busby after the final whistle.
