It's not easy for Manchester City fans to admit, but it's becoming clear Pablo Zabaleta isn't going to regain the form that made him the best right-back in the Premier League.
The defender toiled against Danny Rose in City's 2-0 defeat at Tottenham before the international break, raising further doubts over his place in Pep Guardiola's team.
When Zabaleta arrived in Manchester in 2008, he had to displace the much-loved Vedran Corluka. Under then-manager Mark Hughes, the Croatian was sold to Spurs against the wishes of many supporters and Zabaleta was preferred for the role. But in his early days, he was largely a liability and was often a red card waiting to happen.
