Yaya Toure, Manchester City Agree to 1-Year Contract Extension

Yaya Toure agreed a new one-year deal to stay with Manchester City on Thursday. It means the 34-year-old will prolong his seven-year career with the Citizens.

David Clayton of the club's official website confirmed the Ivorian is staying for another season. He also carried quotes from City's Director of Football Txiki Begiristain, who said: "Yaya has been a fantastic servant for Manchester City and continues to be a vital member of Pep Guardiola's squad."

Toure himself expressed his delight at staying and outlined his ambitions next season and beyond, per Clayton:

"Of course I want to win trophies, that is very important to me.
