Watford will ask their next manager to lower the age of the team regardless of whether they stay in the Premier League.
Only three of the XI who started the 4-0 defeat by Manchester City on Tuesday were under the age of 29.
The club's hierarchy feel a number of their young stars have not been given enough opportunities this season and want the next manager to play the likes of Joao Pedro and Domingos Quina more.
They also have high hopes for 22-year-old Luis Suarez, who has scored 19 goals while on loan at Real Zaragoza.
