Sportsmail understands European football's governing body have contacted the FA's chief executive Mark Bullingham, commending the organisation and the wider English football family for their impassioned efforts that triggered the dramatic collapse of the controversial project on Tuesday night.
The FA have staunchly opposed the attempts of 12 European clubs - including Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham, to establish a new breakaway division to replace the Champions League - UEFA's premier club tournament.
