Sergio Aguero handed prize for becoming Manchester City's record goalscorer by club legend Mike Summerbee and daughter of former record holder Eric Brook

Sergio Aguero has been honoured for becoming Manchester City's all-time record goalscorer in a pre-match ceremony before his side's Premier League clash with Arsenal.

The Argentine hit his landmark 178th goal for the club at the Stadio San Paolo to break Eric Brook’s 78-year-old record and help City into the last 16 of the Champions League with a 4-2 win over Napoli on Wednesday.

Prior to kick-off against Arsenal, Aguero was given a blue glass boot by club legend Mike Summerbee and Betty Cowgill, the daughter of Brook.

Aguero appeared last from the tunnel at the Etihad Stadium and was greeted onto the pitch by applause from former City strikers as well as both sets of players while a giant flag of the striker was unfurled by fans in the East Stand.
