Bernardo Silva has been disillusioned at Manchester City for some time and wanted out over the summer, but the Premier League champions were confident he could stay and be professional if they couldn’t locate a suitor.
Although City haven’t managed to offload Silva for €60m (£51.4m) as they’d hoped, Jack Pitt-Brooke and Sam Lee of The Athletic revealed they offered him to Tottenham as a makeweight in a deal to sign Harry Kane.
City’s pursuit of Kane has since fallen through, but it’s telling they offered Silva out despite seemingly wanting to keep him weeks before.
