Manchester City are desperate to bolster their attack this summer after losing Sergio Aguero and Mundo Deportivo say one player they have on their radar is Lionel Messi.
The 34-year-old is a free agent after his Barcelona contract expired so he’s able to talk to suitors. It remains to be seen whether they’ll land his signature, however, as Barca are in talks over a new deal and Messi might be too expensive.
Before leaving the Catalans, Messi was taking home €1.36m-a-week/£1.16m-a-week. That would be as much as City’s six highest earners – Kevin de Bruyne (£385k-per-week), Raheem Sterling (£300k-per-week), Bernardo Silva (£150k-per-week), Ilkay Gundogan (£140k-per-week), Rodri (£121k-per-week) and Aymeric Laporte (£120k-per-week).
