Prize money for the Women’s FA Cup will double to £6million this season in a huge boost to clubs across the country.
The uplift in funding will come into effect from the third round onwards, where second tier clubs enter the competition, and follows last season’s 10-fold increase, which brought the total prize pot up to £3m.
Winners of this season’s competition will receive £430,000 while the runners up will pocket £108,000.
The figure is still below that of the men’s competition, where the winners receive £2m, but the FA’s long-term plan is for both formats to have equal prize money.
