Xavi marked his 100th game in charge of Barcelona with a 1-0 win over Porto. It wasn’t pretty and there was collateral damage but his team top their group after two wins.
Referee Anthony Taylor sent off Gavi late on and Barcelona lost Robert Lewandowski to injury after half an hour but thanks to Ferran Torres’ goal and excellent performances from centre-backs Jules Kounde and Ronald Araujo and keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen they got the result.
It was a messy first half. Fabio Cardoso’s awful challenge on Kounde meant he was booked but so were two from Barcelona.
