Pep Guardiola has predicted his Champions League matchwinner Rodri could become a top manager of the future.
While one of Guardiola’s former players Xabi Alonso is coveted by Liverpool as their successor to Jurgen Klopp, the City boss thinks his current midfield general would also be suited to life in the dug-out.
‘I always had the theory that good holding midfielders can be good managers,’ said Guardiola, who also played in that position.
‘Wingers rely on their actions but a holding midfielder has to see the game from a global (wider) perspective.
