Pep Guardiola has taken mentor Johan Cruyff's philosophy onto a different level at Manchester City...and is now the best coach in the world says former Barcelona pal Ronald Koeman

Pep Guardiola has moved beyond Barcelona icon Johan Cruyff during his time at Manchester City and is now the best coach in the world, according to Ronald Koeman.

Guardiola's City side are enjoying a hugely impressive campaign, leading the Premier League by 16 points, achieving success in cup competitions and playing an attractive brand of football that has attracted widespread praise.

And Koeman, who played with the 47-year-old at Barcelona - where the 'total football' philosophy of fellow Dutchman Cruyff holds sway - thinks his former teammate's exploits this season mean he has now surpassed his mentor.
