Pep Guardiola is planning for Julian Alvarez to link up with Manchester City in pre-season.
The Argentina striker signed from River Plate for around £14million on deadline day and will remain there until the summer.
Alvarez could stay at River for the remainder of the calendar year but Guardiola expects to oversee the 22-year-old's development in training before next season.
