MANCHESTER -- Pep Guardiola says it's "ridiculous" that some players target winning the Ballon d'Or and should instead concentrate on winning trophies for their clubs.
The Manchester City boss has been nominated for February's manager of the month while Gabriel Jesus and David Silva are shortlisted for the player of the month award.
But Guardiola says he is more impressed with how his team have improved in a month that saw them win three Premier League games and their Champions League first leg 5-3 against Monaco.
"To be player of the month or manager of the month, believe me I know what counts and for me it doesn't matter," he told a news conference ahead of City's Premier League clash with Sunderland on Sunday.
