There was a moment, early on, when it was made plain what Harry Kane could do for Manchester City.
He had got into a dangerous position around the penalty area and been fouled because, sometimes, that is all a defender can do. Kane took the free-kick, curling it up and over the wall, crashing against the top of the right-hand post, as Ederson clutched at air.
City have some excellent free-kick takers. They could do with more opportunities like that. So could anybody.
That was pretty much it from him, just 14 minutes in.
