Manchester City’s academy director Jason Wilcox had handed in his resignation ahead of a switch to Southampton.
Wilcox informed City’s hierarchy yesterday that he wanted to take the opportunity to move into first-team football.
The 51-year-old has been a huge success at academy level for the Premier League champions and rivals have long been tracking his progress.
