Manchester City transfer report: Pep Guardiola wants £40m-rated Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl this summer

Manchester City are plotting a move for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl, but have been warned the 22-year-old will cost £40million.

City are keen to find a long-term replacement for Yaya Toure this summer and believe Germany international Weigl can be their next midfield enforcer.

According to the Daily Mirror, Pep Guardiola has send scouts to watch Weigl in action this season and is ready to swoop for the youngster when the transfer window opens.

Weigl has impressed since joining Dortmund in 2015 from Munich 1860.

Despite his tender age, the 22-year-old has made over 130 appearances in senior football and his performances for BVB have seen him promoted to the senior Germany team – making five caps.
