Manchester City officials and staff forced to evacuate flight to Romania on runway after smoke filled cabin

A Manchester City flight to Romania for Tuesday's Champions League game against Steuau Bucharest had to be evacuated on the runway at Manchester Airport after smoke filled the cabin before take-off.

City legend Mike Summerbee was among club officials and support staff who were rushed off the plane by cabin crew as the emergency unfolded shortly after 11am on Monday morning. Pep Guardiola and his players flew to Romania on Sunday.

An announcement was made to leave the flight, operated by Romanian regional airline Carpatair, quickly before cabin crew on board urged the 50 passengers to leave their belongings behind and 'Go, go, go!
