MANCHESTER, England -- Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is set to make his first appearance of the season in the EFL Cup at Swansea City on Wednesday.
City coach Pep Guardiola will make changes for the clash at the Liberty Stadium and has called up a number of youngsters including 17-year-old Spaniard Brahim Diaz.
Belgium international Kompany has not featured for City since he suffered a thigh strain in the Champions League semifinal in May which caused him to miss the European Championship.
He was an unused substitute in the 4-0 victory over Bournemouth at the weekend, with Guardiola determined not to rush him back.
