Pep Guardiola has promised Yaya Toure a big birthday cake this weekend – but is refusing to guarantee him a new contract at Manchester City.
Toure is one of seven players out of contract at the end of the season and Guardiola confirmed that he has made a final decision on the Ivory Coast star, Willy Caballero, Gael Clichy. Pablo Zabaleta, Jesus Navas, Bacary Sagna and Tosin Adarabioyo.
Navas and Adarabioyo are set to be offered new deals but the other five players face an uncertain future at the Etihad this summer.
Guardiola revealed that he has not spoken to any of the players concerned yet, and it’s understood that Toure has heard nothing about the possibility of a new contract as his current £230,000-a-week deal runs down.
