Manchester City are set for a major overhaul of their squad this summer with Pep Guardiola set to spend more than £200 million on new signings. Portuguese playmaker Bernardo Silva and Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson Moraes have already arrived in deals worth almost £90m while they are expected to bring in three new full-backs with Dani Alves, Benjamin Mendy and Kyle Walker identified as targets.
A new centre-back was also high on his wanted list although the necessity became less urgent following the rejuvenation of captain Vincent Kompany at the end of last season. Guardiola has been searching for a senior figure to organise and lead the defence and Kompany looked the perfect fit in the final seven matches of the season.
