Enzo Maresca is the clear front-runner to become Leicester’s new manager with an announcement even possible by the end of the week.
The Italian, who is part of Pep Guardiola’s staff at Treble-winning Manchester City, is ready to take his second job as a boss even though Guardiola was keen to keep his highly-rated coach.
Leicester have been without a permanent manager since sacking Brendan Rodgers on April 2, with interim boss Dean Smith unable to keep the club in the Premier League during his eight-game stint.
Smith and Scott Parker were among the contenders considered by the Foxes to lead the club back to the top flight, with Maresca’s claims also assessed by the board.
