Ellen White closed in on England women’s goalscoring record with her 42nd and 43rd goals for the Lionesses in a 10-0 thrashing of Luxembourg in their World Cup 2023 qualifier on Tuesday night.
The Manchester City striker struck twice from close range early on, nodding in from Lauren Hemp’s cross on 12 minutes before making it 2-0 shortly after. She is now three goals off Kelly Smith’s record of 46 England goals.
Nikita Parris and an Alex Greenwood double completed the scoring for Sara Wiegman’s side, who made it two wins from two to begin their qualifying campaign for the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in two years’ time.
