Leonardo Bonucci wants to play for Pep Guardiola and made contact with Manchester City, claims club's chief executive

Manchester City chief executive Ferran Soriano has claimed Leonardo Bonucci wanted to move to the Etihad this summer.

The Juventus defender was heavily linked with a switch to the Premier League giants during the most recent transfer window after impressing at Euro 2016.

In the end, no deal was struck, but now Soriano has claimed Bonucci wanted the move and even sounded City out about the transfer.

"At the moment there are a lot of players that want to play under Pep," Soriano said on RAC1.

"The Italian central defender Bonucci wants to play for him and he called us.
