Juventus have confirmed that Dani Alves will be released from his current contract, further clearing the way for Manchester City to secure a deal for the former Barcelona defender.
The Brazilian had one more year remaining on a two-year deal with the Italian champions, but Juve chief executive Beppe Marotta said they have agreed to release him.
Sources told ESPN FC that City boss Pep Guardiola wants to be reunited with Alves, who he managed at Barca, and talks over a deal can now begin.
Marotta was quoted in Tuttosport saying: "We're not talking about a breakdown in the relationship, it's motivation that is fundamental for players.
