John Stones says he is 'flattered' by the amount Manchester City paid for him ahead of Champions League bow

John Stones has admitted he is determined to continue proving himself at new club Manchester City and he will not be taking a role in the first team for granted.

The 22-year-old made his début for City in the narrow 2-1 win over Sunderland on Saturday and looked assured as he began life at the Etihad.

Signing a six-year deal, the former Everton man became the second most expensive defender of all time at a cost of £47.5m - only David Luiz was more following his £50m switch to PSG from Chelsea in 2014.
