Stuart Pearce has backed Joe Hart to emerge a stronger goalkeeper from his Manchester City nightmare.

The England number one is facing up to the end of his City career after being ruthlessly axed by the club's new manager Pep Guardiola.

But former City boss Pearce, who signed Hart in 2006, insists the 29-year-old is far from finished at the highest level.

Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, he said: "The most important thing is he gets out and he starts playing.
