James Ward-Prowse has revealed former Southampton team-mate Rickie Lambert taught him how to take the free-kicks that earned gushing praise from Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.
Ward-Prowse has forged a reputation as a deadly set-piece specialist and has scored 12 direct free-kicks in the Premier League.
Only David Beckham, who tops the charts with 18, has scored more, with Ward-Prowse and Gianfranco Zola and Thierry Henry tied for second place.
Ward-Prowse told talkSPORT that an unlikely source had been the inspiration behind his free-kick prowess, which has been lauded by Guardiola and sparked comparisons with Beckham and Lionel Messi.
