Eddie Howe says Financial Fair Play is 'real' and hopes that the charges brought against Manchester City will help to explain why Newcastle United cannot simply spend what they want.

The Premier League have charged City with more than 100 breaches of financial rules over a nine-year period. They could face relegation if the allegations are proven.

Howe has repeatedly stressed that Newcastle, despite Saudi-led ownership, are limited by spending regulations. They have invested £250million in new players in the past three transfer windows, but it would have been more had FFP not prevented it.
