Mikel Arteta believes Gabriel Jesus is the scrappy, ‘streetwise’ striker Arsenal have been missing.
‘I love these kind of players,’ Arteta said after Jesus inspired the Gunners to a 2-0 victory over Everton in Baltimore on Saturday.
On his first start since a £45million move from Manchester City, the Brazilian scored one and created another for Bukayo Saka in an encouraging 45-minute display.
‘He looks really sharp, really dynamic, a really good understanding with his team-mates straight away. I’m really happy,’ Arteta said.
Against Everton, the first match of Arsenal’s US tour, Jesus’ movement and intensity proved crucial.
