Gabriel Jesus suffers fractured eye socket after clash with Manchester City teammate Nicolas Otamendi during Brazil's loss to Argentina

Gabriel Jesus has suffered a fractured eye socket in a clash with his Manchester City teammate Nicolas Otamendi.

The 20-year-old forward needed lengthy treatment during Brazil's 1-0 defeat to Argentina in Melbourne on Friday after Otamendi’s elbow struck him in the face in an accidental collision.

He was stretchered off and was transferred to a local hospital after the match as a precaution.

Jesus later tweeted that he was ‘fine’ and Brazil’s team coordinator’s Edu - the former Arsenal midfielder – told reporters the youngster had escaped serious injury.

But, following a more detailed examination by medics, it has emerged that Jesus sustained a fractured eye socket.
