Frank Lampard has confirmed that his Chelsea side will give Manchester City a guard of honour if they are crowned champions this weekend – and urged his squad to use it as inspiration for next season.
Chelsea will finish in the bottom half of the table for the first time in 27 years unless they win their three remaining games, starting tomorrow at City. They also need their west London rivals Fulham to collapse.
Lampard, who is set to be replaced by Mauricio Pochettino when the campaign ends, said: ‘The only inspiration should be what it’s taken City to get where they are.
