Paraguay striker Roque Santa Cruz has announced he is retiring from international football.
The 35-year-old revealed that he will end his international career after the World Cup qualifiers against Peru on Thursday in Asuncion and Bolivia next Tuesday in La Paz.
Santa Cruz made his Paraguay debut as a 17-year-old in 1999 and 17 years on has decided to call it quits at a time when he is still considered good enough to play for his country.
'With this call-up I am bringing to an end my time in the national team,' Santa Cruz told reporters following Paraguay training on Tuesday.
