FA condemns 'highly offensive' fan songs after Man City apologised for a tragedy chant heard during their 4-1 victory over Liverpool on Saturday

The FA has condemned chanting by Manchester City supporters during the victory over Liverpool.

A City statement expressed disappointment at a song during the first half, adding they ‘regret any offence it may have caused’. City also apologised for damage to Liverpool’s coach.

‘We are very concerned about the rise of abhorrent chants in stadiums that are related to the Hillsborough disaster and other football related tragedies,’ an FA statement said.

‘These chants are highly offensive and are deeply upsetting for the families, friends and communities who have been impacted by these devastating events, and we strongly condemn this behaviour.
