England defender John Stones says the players have learned from their humiliating Euro 2016 round-of-16 defeat to Iceland.
England, then under the management of Roy Hodgson, crashed out of the tournament to unfancied opponents as they lost an early lead to go down 2-1.
But as Gareth Southgate's side prepare to face World Cup holders Germany in a friendly at Dortmund on Wednesday, Stones told Sky Sports: "We have got Gareth and he is trying to put his stamp on it and look back to what has happened in the past, which I think is vital.
