Eliaquim Mangala leads Pep Guardiola's clear out as Manchester City boss looks to remove deadwood

Pep Guardiola is looking to clear out the deadwood from Manchester City’s squad before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

Guardiola has spent nearly £90million on new players since his arrival at the Etihad Stadium, with the protracted transfer of John Stones still to be completed this week.

The Everton defender would be City’s eighth senior signing of the summer, leaving Guardiola desperate to find buyers for the likes of Wilfried Bony, Samir Nasri, Jesus Navas and Eliaquim Mangala.

Guardiola hopes to replace Mangala with Stones, but Everton are under no pressure to sell and are refusing to budge over their £50m valuation.
