Eddie Howe has hit back at Jamie Carragher's suggestion of Newcastle being a team ready for the season to end - and has reassured fans he is holding his players to account behind the scenes.
There was a lot of anger among supporters towards the team following Monday night's 3-2 defeat at Chelsea, leaving the Magpies 10th in the table and all but ending hopes of re-qualifying for the Champions League via a possible fifth-place finish.
Carragher claimed afterwards that they looked like a side who wanted the campaign to be over, but Howe said: 'I don't like to hear that.
