Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic were on the scoresheet as Manchester City started their Premier League title defence with a 2-0 win away to Chelsea.

Haaland opened the scoring in the 18th minute as he shrugged off Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella. Kovacic made it 2-0 as he netted against his former club.

Chelsea suffered a defeat in new manager Enzo Maresca's first game in charge.
