Gab Marcotti explains why Manchester City could break the goalkeeper transfer fee record to get Benfica's Ederson.

Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson Moraes' move to Manchester City is close to being completed, sources have told ESPN FC.

The Benfica goalkeeper arrived in Manchester to complete a medical while the complexities of his third-party ownership are sorted out.

City are set to pay a £35 million fee for Ederson, which would make him the most expensive goalkeeper in history in pound sterling although the £33m Juventus paid Parma for Gianluigi Buffon in 2001 is a higher fee in euros.
