Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany underwent yet more medical assessments on Thursday after pulling out of a Belgium friendly just minutes before kick-off.
With the Belgian team in the dressing room moments before kick-off, Kompany was still expected to start the game. However, as the clocked ticked down, he then told Martinez he did not feel confident in his fitness to play the game.
Reports in Belgium stated that Kompany felt a twinge in his hamstring and was not prepared to risk injury in further proof he is cautiously managing his fitness.
He is believed to have got through the majority of the warm-up without problems only to feel an issue emerge towards the very end of the routine.
