Athletic Bilbao centre-back Aymeric Laporte reportedly thinks he'll have a better chance of making France's 2018 FIFA World Cup squad if he completes a January transfer to Manchester City.
The Daily Mail's Chris Wheeler reported City have agreed to pay Laporte's £57 million release clause and are set to complete a move for the defender, who believes his World Cup hopes would be boosted as a result.
Laporte is said to feel he can earn a starting spot under manager Pep Guardiola and convince France coach Didier Deschamps to hand him a debut in Les Bleus' lineup before jetting to Russia this summer.
