ESPN’s SEC Storied documentary, “The Play That Changed College Football” tells the story of the first college football conference championship game, pitting undefeated Alabama against 8-3 Florida in 1992. Sorry if I spoil anything here (but it has been 23 years), but the play was an Antonio Langham interception for a touchdown that secured the win for the Crimson Tide and their shot at playing for the national title. It also opened the door for schools to buy into the idea of conference championships.
We now have more conference championship games that add to the excitement of the season.
