Now that Tim Lester has taken over as coach at Western Michigan, it appears — at least for now — that Les Miles won’t have a head-coaching job in 2017.
For the near future, Miles’ future could include a year in the sports media world. Beyond that, his name could come up when jobs open in 2018.
Still, it’s tempting to wonder. Miles had earlier pursued the Minnesota job, which eventually went to Western Michigan’s P.J. Fleck. What would have happened if Miles had ended up taking Fleck’s place with WMU, less than a year after his exit from LSU?
