Wayde Sims, the LSU basketball player who died in a shooting early Friday (Sept. 28), is described by LSU athletics director Joe Alleva as "a lovable young man who was full of joy."
Sims, 20, was killed in Baton Rouge, near the Southern campus. He was a Baton Rouge native, and his father, Wayne, also played basketball for LSU.
"Wayde Sims' loss is simply unbelievable to us right now," Alleva said in a statement released from the university. "There are no words that can express our sorrow for his parents and family. He was such a lovable young man who was full of joy.
