On March 30 after LSU was shut out at home in the series opener by Texas A&M, an armchair batting coach opined "(Tigers' catcher Michael) Papierski can't hit a lick and it is highly doubtful he suddenly becomes a hitter."
On April 23 after LSU lost the series-deciding game at Kentucky with Tigers producing just 11 runs in the three-game set, a venomous soothsayer predicted, "I don't see (batting coach) Micah Gibbs lasting too much longer" and added, "they can't seem to develop pitchers, either.
