With LSU's lead already at eight points, a trio of Tigers turned a strong defensive play into instant offense and a crowd-inciting dunk by freshman star Ben Simmons.
Sophomore forward Craig Victor blocked a Kentucky shot with about 17:35 remaining in the game, and junior guard Tim Quarterman corralled the loose ball and fired an alley-oop pass to Simmons from beyond halfcourt.
Simmons threw down a powerful dunk, and the Pete Maravich Assembly Center erupted with the 43-33 lead.
