BATON ROUGE, La. – At halftime of LSU’s game with Jacksonville State, I polled a number of colleagues with a simple question: Did the Tigers just save their season or did a backup quarterback simply provide a spark to a lethargic offense against an overmatched opponent?
After a first quarter in which LSU ran only six plays and boos rained down from the rain-soaked stands of Tiger Stadium, Les Miles made the call to sit Brandon Harris and give junior Danny Etling, a Purdue transfer, his first action as a Tiger. The boos transformed into thunderous applause as Etling joined the huddle.
