BATON ROUGE – After the first week of play, the LSU softball team moves to No. 8 in the USA Today/NFCA DI Coaches Poll and No. 9 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll.
LSU, who has been ranked every week since the end of the 2014 season, went 2-1 over the weekend. The Tigers claimed wins over McNeese State and Kansas but fell to previously ranked No. 25 Duke.
The Tigers earned a total of 559 points in the NFCA poll and 330 points in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll. The Tigers are the highest ranked SEC team in both polls.
